I am in list of senior Dentists of Gujarat state – Ahmedabad city. I passed my graduation through Gujarat University , in June 1968 from Govt. Dental College & Hospital, New Civil Hospital campus, Ahmedabad.

My student life ended and my practical-experience in dental field started.

Oral Diagnosis - Allied Diseases - Treatment Plan
From the very next month my job in the Diagnosis & Radiology Department started under the auspicious guidance of Dr. N. T. Desai. Professor & HOD of the department. My immediate senior in the dept. was Dr.Chopara, Dr. Nasha, Dr. Kumudben Patel. We had Dr. Mani as a joint professor handling “Oral Cancer Research” Project.

Our daily OPD was 180 to 200 patients a day.

I learnt - Diagnosis – Differential Diagnosis of Oral & Allied Diseases under the auspicious guidance of my seniors and teachers.

My job was to diagnose – suggest treatment plan – and refer patient to respected department. We received from various departments of Civil General Hospital , mostly from Surgery- Medicine- ENT departments. To differentiate Pharyngitis Tonsillitis & Sinusitis and Trigeminal neuralgia – Neuritis are certain diseases where symptomatically there is very thin margin between dental and ENT pain.

Dr. N. T. Desai had vast knowledge of clinical diagnostic systems. he gave real guidance and thorough knowledge.

Dr. Mani was known as “Encyclopedia of Oral & Allied Diseases “.Working under Dr. Mani I could learn soft tissue changes in oral cavity during various systemic disease conditions and deficiency conditions known as Secondary focus. Infectious conditions like Venereal Diseases, Gastric Diseases, Kidney and other Hidden organ diseases show oral ulcers in various shapes, sizes , colors& depth on deferent parts of oral mucosa , Endocrinal hyper/ hypo conditions also show changes in oral mucosa , can be detected by change in texture, co lour or oedema/ size of the oral tissues. I could learn congenital defects like fish's teeth, anomalies, Odon toms, clefts.
